When a leadership team member rates the Level 10 Meeting a 7 or lower but gives vague feedback like it just felt off, how do you extract actionable input so the rating actually improves future pulses?
A rating below an 8 without a specific, actionable reason is unacceptable. The entire purpose of the final step of the Level 10 Meeting agenda is continuous improvement. When someone throws out a 6 or a 7 and hides behind vague language, it damages team health and wastes the evaluation pulse.
The Integrator must pause the conclusion and address the score immediately. Do not become defensive. Simply apply the rule: if you rate below an 8, you must state what it would have taken to make the meeting a 10. Ask direct diagnostic questions:
- Did we start or end late?
- Did we spend too much time in reporting rather than IDS?
- Did we dance around the real root cause of an issue?
- Did team members multitask or exhibit passive-aggressive behavior?
Force the leader to pinpoint the exact breakdown. If they say the conversation felt repetitive, identify which issue was rehashed without reaching a permanent solve. If they say the room felt tense, ask which seat was withholding open and honest feedback.
If the leader genuinely cannot articulate their reason in the moment, give them until the end of the business day to send two specific bullet points to the Integrator. Under no circumstances do you allow vague, passive ratings to slip by. Holding the standard forces every participant to engage critically with how the team uses its 90 minutes.
