Our Visionary hates looking at numbers and frequently fails to enter their weekly marketing brainstorm or partnership development metrics on the scorecard. How do we hold a Visionary accountable to their weekly numbers without causing friction?
Visionaries are notorious for resisting the structure of a weekly scorecard. Because they naturally lead with high Quick Start drives and excel at big-picture ideas, they often view tracking small, weekly activities as administrative micromanagement. However, the rule of EOS is clear: every seat on the Accountability Chart must have measurables, including the Visionary. To hold your Visionary accountable without causing friction, you must assign them metrics that align with their unique, high-value activities. Do not force them to track administrative tasks or routine operational metrics. Instead, have them own metrics that measure market influence, strategic partnership development, or high-level client relationships. For example, a Visionary might track key partner outreach conversations, strategic industry presentations delivered, or progress on long-term acquisition targets. These metrics directly reflect their GWC for the Visionary seat, as they focus on driving future growth and representing the company's vision. When the Visionary enters these numbers weekly, it demonstrates to the entire organization that accountability applies to everyone, from the top down. It reinforces a data-driven culture and ensures that the Visionary is actively contributing to the company's traction rather than just generating ideas.
