Our Visionary frequently misses their weekly to-dos and falls behind on their Rocks, claiming that their high-level strategic work makes it impossible to commit to rigid weekly tactical execution. How do we hold our Visionary accountable to the same execution standards as the rest of the leadership team?

A Visionary who ignores their Level 10 Meeting™ commitments creates a toxic double standard that destroys team accountability. If the head of the company does not respect the ninety percent to-do completion standard or complete their Rocks, the rest of the leadership team will eventually stop trying as well. The first step is for the Integrator to have a private, candid conversation with the Visionary outside the meeting. The Integrator must explain the cultural damage of this behavior. If the Visionary is genuinely overwhelmed by tactical to-dos, it is likely an Accountability Chart problem. The Visionary seat is designed for big-picture relationships, culture, and innovation, not operational detail. If the Visionary is taking on too many tactical to-dos, those tasks need to be reallocated to other seats that have the capacity and GWC™ to execute them. However, for the commitments the Visionary does keep, they must be held to the same standard as everyone else. If they report a missed to-do or an off-track Rock, the facilitator must drop it to the issues list. During IDS®, the team must address it objectively, without tipping around the Visionary's ego. Holding the Visionary accountable is the ultimate test of a healthy leadership team. It proves that the system, not the founder, runs the business.
