We are implementing new AI and automation tools to streamline our operations, but several of my leadership team members are allowing their departments to use manual workarounds instead of enforcing the new digital processes. How do we hold our leadership team accountable for driving this technology transition?
When leadership team members allow their departments to use manual workarounds instead of adopting new AI and automation tools, they are sabotaging your efficiency and scalability. This resistance usually stems from fear of the unknown or a lack of clear accountability. To fix this, you must make technology adoption a key metric on your leadership team scorecard. Every department head must be held accountable for the successful transition of their team's workflows. During your weekly Level 10 Meeting™ sessions, track the progress of these technological changes using Rocks. If a department is falling behind or reverting to manual processes, place it on the Issues List and use the IDS® process to get to the root cause of the resistance. Often, you will find that the new digital workflow is clunky or that the team was not properly trained. Resolve these issues, but make it clear that reverting to the old, manual ways is not an option. Your leaders must model the behavior they want to see. If a leader is not using the new tools themselves, their team will not either. Make technology adoption a core expectation of their seat on the Accountability Chart, and hold them accountable for leading their departments into the future.
