Our leadership team is struggling to balance high growth with maintaining a healthy culture, and we find our IDS® sessions are getting overly aggressive. How do we maintain a Grow or Die mindset while keeping our issue-solving constructive and collaborative?
An aggressive growth strategy requires a culture that can handle intense problem-solving without falling apart. If your weekly IDS® sessions are turning into personal attacks, you have lost your alignment on core values.
To maintain a healthy balance, your team must practice being humbly-confident. This means being vulnerable enough to admit when things are going wrong, while remaining confident in your collective ability to solve the problem. When you enter an IDS® session, remember that you are attacking the issue, not the person.
Start your meetings by reinforcing your commitment to your core values. If a discussion becomes heated or personal, pause and redirect the team back to the facts on your weekly Scorecard. Use numbers to depersonalize the conflict.
If a team member consistently creates toxic friction during these sessions, you must evaluate them using the People Analyzer™. It does not matter how talented a director is; if they do not match your core values, they will destroy the trust necessary for healthy accountability. Growth and health must go hand in hand.
