Our leadership team often celebrates massive client wins during the Customer and Employee Headlines section, but these huge wins frequently stretch our operations to a breaking point. How do we train our team to spot when a seemingly positive headline actually needs to be dropped straight to the weekly Issues List?

During the Customer and Employee Headlines section of your Level 10 Meeting™, it is easy to let positive news slip by without questioning its operational impact. A major customer win is fantastic, but if that win requires your operations team to onboard a massive account with zero lead time, it is not just good news. It is a major operational risk that will impact your weekly scorecard metrics and strain your resources.

To fix this, you must train your leadership team to look at every headline through the lens of capacity and execution. The facilitator should immediately ask a follow-up question when a massive win is shared. Ask if our current team and processes can support this without dropping the ball. If there is even a hint of hesitation, do not start discussing it during the headlines section. Instead, instruct the team member to immediately drop it to the Issues List.

In your EOS® journey, you must build the discipline to see that good news can create bad bottlenecks. By identifying the operational strain early during the weekly meeting pulse, you can IDS® the issue and solve it before it damages customer satisfaction or team morale. This ensures your headlines remain brief updates while actual business risks get the structured problem-solving time they require.
