During the IDS portion of our Level 10 Meeting, our Visionary and Integrator frequently get locked in intense debates over major strategic decisions, turning the meeting into a spectator sport while the rest of the leadership team sits and watches. How do we handle this V/I misalignment without destroying the meeting pace?

A healthy debate between a Visionary and an Integrator is vital for a growing company, but the weekly Level 10 Meeting is the absolute wrong venue for them to hash out their strategic disagreements. When the V/I dynamic is misaligned in front of the leadership team, it creates confusion, anxiety, and a complete breakdown of meeting momentum.

The facilitator must step in immediately when a debate between the Visionary and Integrator becomes a two-way argument. The rule is simple: if an issue requires deep alignment between the Visionary and the Integrator, it must be taken offline to their weekly Same Page Meeting.

The facilitator should stop the discussion and state that this is a V/I alignment issue that needs to be solved on their Same Page Meeting, then propose parking it and moving to the next item on the weekly priority list.

The rest of the leadership team cannot make decisions when the two heads of the organization are not aligned. Forcing the team to watch a debate where there is no clear direction is a massive waste of everyone's time.

The Visionary and Integrator must present a united front to the leadership team. Keep the weekly Level 10 Meeting focused on resolving tactical, cross-functional operational issues that the whole team can actively participate in solving, and save the big strategic debates for the Same Page Meeting.
