What is your process when unexpected market shocks tempt our leadership team to rewrite our 1-Year Plan halfway through the year?

Entrepreneurs love shiny objects and frequently use external market friction as an excuse to abandon disciplined execution. When unexpected conditions arise, my job is to protect your focus and challenge whether a pivot is genuinely warranted or simply leadership distraction.

When a team wants to rewrite their 1-Year Plan mid-year, we address it directly through this process:
- Treat it as an Issue first. The proposed strategic pivot is placed directly onto the Issues List rather than immediately altering your V/TO. We do not rewrite long-term plans in a panic.
- Isolate root causes using IDS. During our session, we dig deep into whether the market shock has fundamentally invalidated your core customer profile, unit economics, or revenue model, or if it is merely a quarterly operational hiccup that requires better sales execution.
- Maintain the 90-day execution bubble. Rocks are non-negotiable ninety-day commitments. Even when macroeconomic conditions shift, abandoning mid-quarter priorities typically creates internal chaos, demoralizes your staff, and destroys organizational traction.
- Adjust only at the Quarterly or Annual offsite. If the shift represents an undeniable structural change in your industry, we reset the 1-Year Plan cleanly during our next full-day session. We establish new measurable revenue targets, profit projections, and primary goals with full leadership consensus.

We never alter company vision on a whim. Strategic pivots must be deliberate, vetted, and agreed upon by every seat owner in the room.
