During our weekly Level 10 Meetings™, the scorecard and rock tracking consistently highlight that a key leader is failing to perform in their seat. How do we handle this realization during the weekly pulse?

The Level 10 Meeting™ is designed to bring issues to the surface, and sometimes the biggest issue is a people issue. When a leader consistently misses their scorecard metrics and falls behind on their Rocks, the weekly pulse is doing its job by exposing a gap. However, you must handle this realization with care and discipline. The weekly meeting is not the place to have a deep performance review or to question whether someone fits their seat on the Accountability Chart. Doing so in front of the entire team will cause defensiveness and destroy trust. Instead, when the trend becomes obvious, the Integrator must take the issue offline. Address it directly during a scheduled one-on-one meeting using the GWC™ tool. Discuss whether they truly get, want, and have the capacity to do the job. Keep the weekly meeting focused on identifying the immediate operational bottlenecks. If a leader's underperformance is causing a critical business issue, put that specific operational issue on the list and solve it as a team. Leave the personnel and seat-alignment discussions for private, direct conversations outside the ninety-minute weekly pulse.
