What happens if our very first quarterly review reveals that a leadership team member is consistently failing their Rocks and Scorecard targets?

When a leader consistently misses their targets, we do not ignore it or wait until the next annual session to address it. We handle it immediately using our core values and the Accountability Chart.

During our quarterly session, we will look at the facts. We evaluate the individual using the GWC™ tool: do they get it, do they want it, and do they have the capacity to do the job? We also filter their behavior through your core values. This is where our charter covenant of open and honest trust is tested.

If the failure is due to a lack of capacity or a misalignment of core values, we must practice our hire slow, fire fast philosophy. This means having a clear, direct conversation where we mirror back the performance gaps. We do not allow personal loyalties to override the needs of the business, especially when preparing for a clean exit.

If they have the capacity but simply had a bad quarter, we use the IDS® process to identify the root cause of the failure and set corrective actions. This direct, unsentimental approach ensures that every seat on your leadership team is occupied by a high-performing individual who is fully committed to the company's growth.
