What do we do when a high-performing employee does not align with our Core Values, but firing them would severely hurt our operations?

Keeping a high-performing employee who does not share your Core Values is one of the most damaging mistakes an owner can make. In the EOS® framework, this person is known as a toxic high-performer. While their productivity is excellent, their behavior slowly destroys your company culture and drives away your best people.

To address this issue objectively, we use the People Analyzer™. This tool evaluates individuals against your Core Values and their GWC™ for their specific seat. A person who gets the work done but fails the core values check is a culture killer.

John Maxwell's framework teaches us that true leadership influence goes beyond raw production. If you tolerate a values mismatch for the sake of short-term output, you signal to your entire organization that your stated values are meaningless.

You must have a candid conversation with this employee, sharing specific behavioral examples of where they fell short of your Core Values. Give them thirty days to correct their behavior. If they cannot or will not align with your culture, you must terminate their employment. Your operational capacity might take a temporary hit, but your long-term organizational health and stability will immediately improve.
