Our top performing sales director consistently hits their targets but refuses to run their departmental meetings using the Level 10 Meeting™ format, claiming it slows them down. How do we handle tool resistance from a high performer who is actually delivering results?
A high performer who rejects the operating system is a major risk to your culture and scalability. If your top sales director refuses to use the Level 10 Meeting™ format, they are sending a message to their entire department that accountability is optional for elite performers. This behavior breeds resentment and halts your cascade.
You must address this resistance directly. First, confirm they GWC™ their seat. Do they get it, want it, and have the capacity to lead their team? Part of their capacity is leading in alignment with your operating system. You must explain that as you scale, or prepare for an exit, your business valuation depends on consistent, repeatable systems, not heroic individual efforts.
Schedule a private conversation. Let them know that running their department meetings using the Level 10 Meeting™ format is non negotiable. Offer to support them by sitting in on their first few meetings to help them find the rhythm. If they continue to resist, you have a GWC™ issue. A high producing employee who refuses to adopt the tools that keep the company aligned is ultimately limiting your growth and lowering your business value.
