For the sake of your internal operations, everyone must use the Accountability Chart terminology. Inside your building and in your Level 10 Meetings, they are the seat holders responsible for their specific roles. If keeping a professional title like Vice President is truly critical for client-facing credibility or industry standards, you can allow them to use that title externally on their email signatures and LinkedIn. However, you must make it clear that their external title has zero bearing on their internal accountability. In fact, if they use the external title as an excuse to avoid their internal duties or bypass the Integrator, you have a Right Person, Right Seat issue. Remind your leadership team that as you build a high-performing company optimized for a clean exit, the value of their resume will not come from an inflated title. It will come from the quantifiable results they achieved in their seats. A buyer cares about a team that delivers on their Rocks and keeps the Scorecard green, not who has the fanciest title.
