What should the Integrator do when a leadership team member consistently rates the Level 10 Meeting™ a five or six but refuses to provide constructive feedback during the rating phase?
Meeting ratings are not a popularity contest. They are a diagnostic tool for team health. When a team member consistently rates the Level 10 Meeting™ below an eight and stays silent, they are violating the core EOS® principle of being open and honest. The Integrator must address this immediately outside the meeting in a one on one conversation. Start by asking the team member to explain their perspective. They might feel unheard, or they might simply be frustrated with the team's pace. The Integrator should remind them that rating a meeting poorly without offering a path to improvement is passive aggressive and unproductive. In the next weekly meeting, the Integrator should establish a ground rule: anyone who rates the meeting below an eight must state exactly what would have made it a ten. This simple rule shifts the focus from complaining to problem solving. If the team member still refuses to contribute constructively, it is time to evaluate their fit on the Accountability Chart. A leader who cannot or will not participate in improving the team's weekly pulse is a major bottleneck to traction.
