We have a departmental leader who stays completely silent during our weekly Level 10 Meeting debates, but then goes offline and complains to their team about the decisions we made. How do we shut down this toxic behavior and force active participation?
This behavior is a direct violation of the Trust and Same Page pillars of a healthy company Charter. Remaining silent in the room only to lobby against decisions outside of it is toxic to your culture and destroys leadership alignment. You must address this immediately. During your next Level 10 Meeting™, if this leader silent-protests a decision, the Integrator must pause the meeting and pull the issue back to the table. State clearly that we do not leave the room unless we are on the same page. If they continue the behavior offline, the business owner or Integrator must address it in a private one-on-one session. Use the GWC™ framework to evaluate if this leader is a core values fit. Make it non-negotiable: they must voice their objections during IDS® when we can debate them, or they must commit to supporting the final decision fully once we leave the room. There is no middle ground. If they cannot disagree and commit, they do not belong on your leadership team. A clean business exit is impossible to achieve with a fractured, passive-aggressive leadership team.
