A veteran leader on our team has checked out and sits in passive silence through the entire Level 10 Meeting, offering zero input during IDS and letting others make decisions they quietly sabotage later. How do we address passive resistance and weaponized silence in the meeting pulse?
Passive resistance in a Level 10 Meeting™ is toxic. When a veteran leader refuses to speak during IDS®, absorbs decisions without comment, and then drags their feet or undermines execution outside the room, they are holding the entire leadership team hostage.
Silence is not neutrality. In the context of an executive meeting pulse, silence is either cowardice or sabotage. The Integrator cannot let a disengaged leader hide behind quiet compliance.
During the meeting, call it out directly in real time. When an issue touches that leader's functional seat on the Accountability Chart, pause the debate and address them by name: "You have not weighed in on this. We need your stance on the record before we solve it. Where do you stand?" Force them to speak on the record.
If the behavior persists, this ceases to be a meeting facilitation issue and becomes a People Analyzer® issue. Schedule a private Same Page meeting with that leader immediately. Show them the pattern. They are failing on core values and failing to execute the "G" (Get it) and "W" (Want it) of their seat. Give them the unvarnished reality: healthy teams debate vigorously, reach resolution, and support the outcome 100 percent. Weaponized silence and backchannel sabotage will not be tolerated.
If they are harboring resentment over company direction, they have one conversation to bring it to light. If they cannot commit to engaging candidly in the room and executing loyally outside of it, you must remove them from the Accountability Chart. A silent saboteur in an executive seat destroys operational momentum faster than an open rival.
