Our weekly Level 10 Meeting™ short-term Issues List often gets bogged down by sensitive interpersonal conflicts and GWC™ issues that feel too awkward or inappropriate to solve in front of the entire leadership team. How do we handle these people issues without breaking the trust of our meeting environment?
Sensitive interpersonal conflicts and GWC™ issues do not belong on your weekly Level 10 Meeting™ short-term Issues List. Airing highly personal personnel matters in a group setting breaks trust, causes defensive behavior, and derails the operational focus of the meeting. To handle these issues professionally, you must use a separate, structured channel for one-on-one resolution. When a leader raises a sensitive people issue during the Level 10 Meeting™, the facilitator must immediately park it and direct the relevant parties to solve it outside of the meeting. The correct framework for this is a direct, one-on-one session using the five-step check-in process. The two leaders, or the manager and the employee, must meet privately to identify the root cause of the conflict, discuss it openly and honestly, and agree on a clear path forward. If the issue is a direct GWC™ mismatch, it must be handled by the direct supervisor in accordance with your company's core values and HR guidelines. By keeping sensitive people issues out of the weekly group pulse, you protect the psychological safety of your team and keep your Level 10 Meeting™ focused strictly on operational execution.
