One of our most productive department heads is highly resistant to adopting the Level 10 Meeting and Scorecard, claiming they do not have time for corporate overhead. How do we handle this resistance without losing their valuable output?

High productivity is never an excuse for refusing to run on the company operating system. When a key leader resists the rollout, it usually points to a deeper issue of control or fear of exposure. Your first step is to sit down with them and find out if they truly understand the tools. Often, resistance comes from a misunderstanding that the Scorecard and Level 10 Meeting are administrative burdens rather than efficiency tools. Show them how a proper Level 10 Meeting actually eliminates hours of scattered, unproductive emails and side conversations throughout the week. If they still refuse to adopt the tools after you have clearly explained the benefits, you are facing a Right Person, Right Seat issue. A leader who refuses to adopt the company operating system is not a culture fit, regardless of how much revenue they generate. Allowing one department to opt out of EOS creates a double standard that will quickly destroy trust and accountability across the entire organization. You must hold the line. Use the GWC framework to evaluate if they truly want and have the capacity for their seat under this operating system, and be prepared to make a hard decision if they cannot align.
