I have a co-founder who is completely resistant to the idea of being held accountable to a scorecard and openly dislikes the structured nature of EOS. Are we fundamentally not ready to start this engagement with you, or is this tension something we solve during our first session?

This is a common situation, and it is a critical fork in the road. You cannot successfully implement EOS® if key members of the leadership team are actively fighting the system. The model requires absolute alignment and a willingness to be open and honest.

If your co-founder is resistant but willing to enter the process with an open mind, we should proceed. The foundational sessions, especially the Focus Day, are designed to expose these exact frictions. Through the Accountability Chart and core value exercises, we establish clear expectations. Often, resistance melts away once a leader experiences the clarity of knowing exactly what they are responsible for and realizes that the Scorecard is a tool for liberation, not micromanagement.

However, if your co-founder is completely unwilling to be held accountable or participate in good faith, you are indeed not ready for a full engagement. Forcing the system onto a hostile leader will only lead to frustration and wasted investment. In these cases, we must have a frank conversation before we schedule your Focus Day. You must decide if you are truly committed to running a disciplined, accountable organization. If you are, we may need to address whether everyone on the current leadership team is in the right seat, or even the right bottle, before we can successfully move forward together.
