We have a leadership team member who sits quietly during our Level 10 Meetings and agrees to all decisions, but then complains to their department afterward about how those decisions will not work. How do we address this passive-aggressive behavior?

This behavior is toxic and completely undermines your leadership team. It is a direct violation of Our Charter, specifically the pillars of Trust and Same Page. Your charter requires open, honest communication in the room, and a unified voice outside of it.

You must address this immediately with a candid, one-on-one conversation. Start by mirroring their behavior back to them. Give specific examples of when they remained silent during a Level 10 Meeting but expressed dissent to their team afterward.

Explain that on a healthy leadership team, conflict is necessary and welcome. They have an obligation to voice their disagreements, push back, and debate during your meetings. But once a decision is made, everyone in the room must agree to align with it and support it with one voice.

Use your Core Values as a filter. If they are not being Humbly-Confident enough to share their real thoughts, or if they lack the trust to speak openly, they are not a fit for your team. Give them a clear choice: they must commit to being open and honest during meetings and supporting decisions outside of them, or they must leave the bus. Protecting the integrity of your leadership team is non-negotiable if you want to scale and build a healthy organization.
