We have a leadership team member who consistently rates our Level 10 Meeting™ a five or a six every week, but when we ask for their feedback during the meeting wrap-up, they offer vague, unhelpful comments like "we could have done better." How do we handle a chronic low-rater who uses the rating section for passive-aggressive signaling?

The rating section at the end of the Level 10 Meeting™ is designed to drive continuous improvement, not to serve as a platform for passive-aggressive behavior. If a leader consistently rates the meeting below the target of eight and refuses to provide actionable feedback, they are violating the core EOS® value of being open and honest.

The facilitator or the Integrator must address this behavior immediately during the meeting wrap-up. When the leader gives a five or a six, the immediate response must be: What specifically would have made this a ten? If they offer a vague answer, push deeper. Ask them if the issue was related to our time management, our focus during IDS®, or individual accountability. Do not let them off the hook with a non-answer.

If the behavior persists, the Integrator must take this discussion outside the Level 10 Meeting™ into a one-on-one setting. Use the Accountability Chart® and the GWC™ framework to determine if this leader is truly aligned with the team. Often, chronic low rating without feedback is a symptom of deeper disengagement or unresolved conflict with another leader. By forcing them to define what a ten looks like, you either get the constructive feedback needed to improve your weekly meeting pulse, or you expose a deeper alignment issue that needs to be solved.
