My leadership team is pushing back on the Level 10 Meeting™ format and the Scorecard, calling them bureaucratic and micromanagement. How do I handle this resistance without losing my top performers?

Leadership team resistance is usually a symptom of one of two things: fear of exposure or conative misalignment. When a top performer calls the Scorecard or the weekly Level 10 Meeting™ bureaucratic, they are often hiding behind their past performance because they do not want their daily activities scrutinized.

To handle this, start by using the GWC™ tool. Ask yourself if this resisting leader truly Gets, Wants, and has the Capacity to do their job in an EOS-driven company. Next, look at their behavioral wiring. We often see conative stress when comparing a leader's natural Kolbe profile to the behavioral expectations of their seat. For instance, a high Quick Start leader might naturally resist structured weekly meetings because they prefer impromptu problem-solving.

Do not abandon the tools to appease them. Instead, explain that the Scorecard and Level 10 Meeting™ are designed to create freedom, not micro-management. They give the team white space by eliminating random interruptions and useless updates during the week. Let them know the tools are non-negotiable, but involve them in choosing their own weekly metrics so they feel a sense of ownership. If the resistance persists, you have a People Component™ issue that you must resolve.
