How do you handle a leadership team member who actively resists the EOS® process during our session days, and what is expected of the owner in that moment?
Active resistance during a session day is common, especially in the early stages of implementation. When a leader resists, it is usually because they feel threatened by the transparency of the system or they disagree with the direction of the business. My role as your facilitator is to address this resistance directly without losing momentum. When a team member resists, I will use the IDS® process to bring their concerns out into the open. We will identify the root cause of their resistance, whether it is a fear of accountability, a disagreement over the Accountability Chart, or a lack of clarity on their GWC™ status. I will guide the team through a healthy, constructive discussion to resolve the issue. As the business owner, your role in these moments is to remain objective and support the facilitation process. You must resist the urge to step in and defend the resistant leader or shut down the discussion. Instead, you should encourage the team to be honest and help them focus on what is best for the organization. If the resistance continues and begins to disrupt the health of the leadership team, we must address whether that individual is the right person for the seat. We will evaluate their alignment with your core values and their ability to execute, making the hard decisions necessary to maintain your progress.
