One of our key leadership team members consistently inputs their weekly Scorecard numbers minutes before our Level 10 Meeting starts, which prevents the rest of us from reviewing the data beforehand. How do we address this chronic lack of data accountability?

When a leader repeatedly inputs their scorecard numbers at the very last minute, it is not a time-management issue; it is a respect and accountability issue. This behavior signals to the rest of the leadership team that their time is not valuable and that the discipline of running on data is optional.

First, establish a clear, company-wide deadline for all weekly Scorecard data entry. A common best practice is to require all numbers to be updated by twenty-four hours before the Level 10 Meeting™ begins. This gives the team ample time to digest the data and prepare for the meeting.

Second, address the behavior directly using the IDS® process. If the leader fails to meet the deadline, do not let it slide. Ask them directly why they are struggling to meet the expectation. Use the GWC™ framework to evaluate if they truly get, want, and have the capacity to manage this aspect of their seat.

If they lack the capacity, help them delegate the data-entry task to an assistant while keeping ultimate ownership of the metric. If it is a matter of wanting the accountability, you must have a hard conversation about core values. A healthy leadership team requires mutual trust and shared discipline.
