During IDS, we frequently get stuck on high-priority issues because we realize we lack the necessary data or customer feedback to make a final decision, which leads to the issue being tabled week after week. How do we handle these information gaps without stalling our momentum or making uneducated guesses?

Tabled issues are silent progress killers. When your team repeatedly says, we need more information, and carries an issue over to the next week, you are tolerating stagnation. In a high-performing EOS® environment, you must resolve these information gaps immediately through action.

When you realize you lack the data to solve an issue during IDS®, do not let the discussion drag on or table the item. Instead, identify the exact piece of information you are missing and who is responsible for getting it. Instantly create a weekly To-Do for that team member. The To-Do must be highly specific, such as: John to extract the last three months of customer retention data, or Sarah to call three clients for feedback on the new pricing structure.

Keep the main issue on your Issues List, but mark it as parked until the next meeting when the data is delivered. When the next meeting begins and the To-Do is completed, you will have the objective facts needed to solve the issue permanently. This discipline prevents your team from making uneducated guesses while ensuring that issues do not sit unresolved. It forces rapid execution, keeps your team focused, and maintains the momentum necessary to scale operations and prepare the business for a clean exit.
