Our lead sales representative consistently smashes his revenue targets and has high GWC for his seat, but he completely ignores our core values and creates a toxic environment. How do we make this tough call?

This is the classic Right Seat, Wrong Person dilemma, and it is one of the toughest calls an owner has to make. This individual has high capability and gets results, but their behavior is actively destroying your company culture and undermining your leadership.

In EOS, core values are non-negotiable. If someone does not fit your core values, they are a Wrong Person, regardless of how much revenue they generate. Keeping them in the business sends a toxic message to the rest of your team that performance trumps integrity and respect.

You must handle this decisively. First, use the People Analyzer to document their core values alignment, showing them exactly where they are falling short. Have a direct conversation and give them a specific timeframe, typically 30 days, to correct their behavior.

If they do not change, you must terminate their employment. While this may cause a temporary drop in sales, the long-term benefit to your team's morale, productivity, and trust will far outweigh the short-term revenue loss. Furthermore, a clean exit requires a healthy, scalable culture; no sophisticated buyer wants to inherit a toxic work environment driven by a single indispensable, high-performing rogue employee.
