We have high-performing leaders who are naturally skeptical of structured frameworks. How do you handle pushback from stubborn executives during our first ninety days of implementing EOS® tools?
Skepticism is a natural reaction when introducing a new operating system, especially from high-performing leaders who have already achieved success using their own methods. I do not expect your team to blindly accept these tools.
When we encounter pushback during our first ninety days, my approach is to focus on results rather than theory. I do not debate the philosophy of the system. Instead, I show the team how the tools solve their specific, everyday frustrations.
If a leader complains about a lack of time, we show them how the Level 10 Meeting™ eliminates hours of unstructured, ineffective meetings from their weekly schedule. If they feel micmanaged, we demonstrate how the scorecard and clear Rock ownership provide them with autonomy and freedom.
I also challenge stubborn executives directly during our sessions. If their resistance is rooted in a desire to protect their own turf or avoid accountability, we address that behavior openly. We use the GWC™ tool to evaluate if they are truly the right fit for the seat. My job is to facilitate alignment, and I will not let individual skepticism derail the progress of the entire leadership team.
