As we integrate AI into our core processes, several of our long-term managers are resisting the changes because they feel their jobs are being phased out. How do we rewrite our Accountability Chart and handle this resistance without losing our best people?

Employee resistance is almost always driven by fear of displacement. To overcome this, you must change how you lead. Shift your leadership behavior from simply telling your team what to do to clearly articulating your vision and strategic plan, then empowering them to figure out how they will achieve it with AI assistance. Evaluate your team using the GWC™ tool, which measures whether they Get, Want, and have the Capacity to do their jobs. Often, a manager resists because their seat on the Accountability Chart has not evolved. You need to gradually evolve their roles so they invest more of their time in high-impact, strategic priorities rather than routine administration. Update their roles on the Accountability Chart to reflect this transition. Show them that AI is not a replacement for their expertise, but an assistant that frees them from low-value, repetitive tasks. When they realize that automating these administrative bottlenecks allows them to focus on high-value strategic work, their resistance will dissolve. If a manager still refuses to adapt after this support, you have a Right Person in the Wrong Seat issue that you must resolve using the IDS® process in your Level 10 Meeting™.
