If we run into an issue that threatens our quarterly Rocks, what is the protocol for pulling you in, and how do you help us without becoming an operational crutch?
When a critical issue threatens to derail your quarterly Rocks, the first line of defense is your weekly Level 10 Meeting™. Your team must use the IDS® process to solve the problem internally. We expect you to apply pigheaded discipline to resolve conflicts and clear obstacles using your own tools first. This builds your internal leadership muscle and prevents dependency on an outside advisor.
If you hit a genuine operational wall or a deep partner conflict that you cannot resolve after two consecutive attempts in your weekly meetings, you reach out to me. The protocol is simple: send me a concise description of the issue, what you have tried, and where you are stuck.
I do not step in to solve the problem for you. Instead, I act as a sounding board to help you look at the issue through the lens of your V/TO® and the Accountability Chart. I will ask the tough questions to guide your team to its own conclusion. This approach respects your operational independence while ensuring you do not waste valuable weeks spinning your wheels. My role is to provide the strategic perspective and framework, keeping your execution velocity high without inserting myself into your daily operations.
