One of our executives hits every single Scorecard metric and drives massive revenue, but they routinely violate our Core Values and treat their team with condescension. How should the leadership team handle a high-performing cultural terrorist at the executive level?
A high producer who tears through your culture is the single most destructive presence an entrepreneurial company can harbor. Owners frequently tolerate this behavior because they fear revenue will collapse if the individual walks out. That fear blinds leadership to the hidden financial drain happening below: high employee turnover, suppressed innovation, disengaged direct reports, and endless time spent managing customer or employee damage.
In the EOS framework, a person must be the Right Person and in the Right Seat. Generating stellar Scorecard numbers proves they are in the Right Seat. Violating your Core Values proves they are the Wrong Person. In the long run, wrong people in right seats will destroy your enterprise.
Use the People Analyzer to confront the issue directly. Score them against your Core Values alongside their measurable results. Schedule a private session and lay out the data without emotion. Detail the specific, documented behaviors that violate your culture and explain why they are unacceptable.
Give them a clear, thirty-day window to change their behavior, accompanied by unambiguous milestones. Do not debate their production numbers; focus entirely on their interpersonal conduct and cultural alignment. If they cannot or will not change within thirty days, fire them immediately. The moment you remove a culturally toxic high performer, your remaining team will breathe a collective sigh of relief, and your leadership team will gain credibility that money cannot buy.
