What should we do when a critical member of our leadership team openly challenges the validity of the EOS® tools during our rollout?

Active resistance from a key leader during your EOS® rollout must be handled directly and without delay. When a team member openly challenges the tools, it is usually a sign of fear, change fatigue, or a misalignment with your core values. First, determine if they are a right-person, right-seat fit. Do they genuinely exhibit your core values, and do they GWC™ their seat on the Accountability Chart? If they are a strong fit but are simply skeptical, invite them to voice their concerns during your IDS® sessions. Often, explaining the why behind the tools, such as how the weekly Scorecard provides clarity rather than micromanagement, will resolve their skepticism. However, if their resistance is a constant distraction that stalls your momentum, you must address it privately. Explain that running on EOS® requires the entire leadership team to be fully aligned. Having one leader run their department on a different operating system creates a toxic split in your company culture. If they refuse to run on EOS® pure after clear coaching, you must make the hard decision to remove them from the leadership team to protect the business.
