I am the owner and Visionary, but I still facilitate our weekly Level 10 Meeting because I feel like the energy drops when I step back. How do I successfully hand off facilitation so the team runs the meeting without me?

If you are still running your Level 10 Meeting, you are preventing your leadership team from stepping up and owning their seats. You must transition from the center of gravity to an active observer, and eventually to a participant who only speaks when necessary.

The natural facilitator of the Level 10 Meeting is your Integrator. If you do not have an Integrator, select a leadership team member who has high Follow Thru and strong accountability. They must be someone who can keep the meeting on time, enforce the agenda, and prevent the team from falling into the weeds.

To make the transition seamless, do it over three weeks. In week one, run the meeting but have your successor watch you closely. In week two, let them facilitate while you sit next to them and offer quiet guidance. In week three, hand over the reins completely.

During the meeting, your job is to stay quiet. If the team looks at you for approval or answers, redirect their gaze. Say, that is an issue for the Integrator to handle, or let the owner of that seat solve it. If you step in every time there is a silence or a minor struggle, you teach them to remain dependent on you. Let them struggle, find their rhythm, and own the meeting.
