Some of our long-term employees are resisting our transition to AI tools because they are comfortable with their manual processes. How do we use the GWC framework to address this resistance and ensure we have the right people in the right seats?
As you integrate AI to improve operational efficiency, your Accountability Chart must evolve. This evolution often meets resistance from legacy employees who are comfortable with their old, manual ways of working. To build an exit ready company, you cannot allow nostalgia to block progress. You must use the GWC™ framework to evaluate every team member. GWC™ stands for Get It, Want It, and Capacity to Do It. As technology shifts, the definition of capacity in a seat changes radically. First, Get It means checking if the employee understands how their seat has evolved from a manual execution role to an AI augmented strategic role. Second, Want It looks at whether they genuinely want to work in this fast paced, technology driven environment, or if they are wishing for the old days. Third, Capacity to Do It evaluates if they have the mental and technical capacity to learn these new systems and focus on higher value strategic work. If an employee has the Get It and Want It but lacks Capacity, you can invest in training to help them adapt. However, if they do not want to use the new tools, or if they lack the ability to elevate their work from execution to strategy, they are in the wrong seat. Address these issues directly using the GWC™ framework to make hard, objective decisions about your people.
