How do we update our hiring and evaluation standards when the definition of "Get It, Want It, and Capacity to Do It" now includes prompting and managing AI systems?
As your business integrates automated systems, the requirements for your existing roles will inevitably change. To ensure you have the right people in the right seats, you must re-evaluate your team members using the GWC framework: do they Get It, Want It, and have the Capacity to Do It?
Getting it means they truly understand the strategic purpose of the role and how automated tools fit into their daily responsibilities. Wanting it means they are genuinely motivated to embrace these systems and are not quietly resisting the technological shift. Capacity is where many owners run into issues. The capacity to do a job now includes the digital literacy and cognitive agility required to work alongside automated tools.
If a team member lacks the capacity to adapt to automated workflows, you must address the issue directly. Use your weekly Level 10 Meeting to identify performance gaps and discuss solutions. You may need to provide additional training or, in some cases, move the person to a seat that better matches their skills. By keeping your people standards high and ensuring everyone in a key seat fully GWCs their updated role, you maintain a strong, adaptable culture that can execute your strategic vision.
