One of our department heads has a scorecard that is completely green and is on track with all their Rocks, yet their team is suffering from high turnover and low morale that never gets reflected on our Level 10 Meeting list. How do we flush out these hidden cultural issues when the official numbers say everything is perfect?

A scorecard that is completely green can sometimes mask deep operational or cultural dysfunction. If a department head is hitting their numbers but their team is burning out and quitting, your weekly metrics are lagging indicators of a culture in crisis. You must update your scorecard to include leading indicators of team health.

To flush out these hidden issues, the leadership team must introduce metrics that measure human capability and team health, not just financial or operational output. For example, add a weekly scorecard metric for employee net promoter score, team turnover, or even a simple red-yellow-green rating on department morale.

Furthermore, look at the Accountability Chart. If a leader has the GWC™ to run their department but their core values alignment is slipping, the numbers will eventually follow. The Integrator must use the People Analyzer™ to evaluate the leader's behavior outside of their technical output.

During the Level 10 Meeting™, if you suspect there is trouble behind the green numbers, any leader can add 'departmental morale' to the Issues List. Use IDS® to dig into the root cause. Do not let a green scorecard shield a leader from accountability for their team's culture. True health requires both strong numbers and a thriving team.
