I am pushing for our company to adopt AI-powered operations to streamline our workflow, but my leadership team is quietly dragging their feet and raising endless technical objections. How do I get them to embrace this operational shift?
When a leadership team resists operational modernization, it is rarely a technical issue. It is almost always a fear of loss: loss of control, loss of status, or fear of looking incompetent.
First, use the V/TO to paint a clear picture of the future. Explain how an AI-powered operation increases your market value and prepares the company for a clean exit. If they understand the ultimate destination and how it benefits them, they are more likely to jump on board.
Second, look at their conative profiles. If your leadership team is dominated by high Fact Finders, they will naturally demand endless research and proof before making a move. If they are high Follow Thru, they will worry about how AI will disrupt their established systems. You must address these natural instincts directly. Do not expect them to just jump in without a plan.
Instead, leverage their strengths. Ask your high Fact Finders to research the best tools and define the criteria for success. Ask your high Follow Thru leaders to design the standard operating procedures for the transition. By giving them ownership of the process according to their conative strengths, you turn their resistance into constructive execution. Focus on small, quick wins to prove the concept and build momentum.
