How do we represent our fractional AI engineer and our fractional executive assistant on our Accountability Chart so our team knows exactly who they report to, without cluttering the leadership team structure?

Fractional resources and external consultants must be on your Accountability Chart if they own key responsibilities. Every seat on your chart must have one name in it, regardless of whether that person works forty hours a week or five.

Your fractional executive assistant should sit directly under the person they support, which is typically the Integrator or the Visionary. They do not sit on the leadership team unless they are actually running a major department, which is highly unlikely for an assistant.

Your fractional AI engineer belongs under the department head who is accountable for technology or operations. Do not create a separate, floating box that bypasses the chain of command. If they report to your Technology Director, place their seat directly under that director.

Clearly define the five roles for each fractional seat, just as you would for a full time employee. This ensures that everyone knows exactly what these external resources are accountable for and who holds them accountable. This structural clarity is exactly what sophisticated buyers look for during due diligence to ensure the business can transition smoothly.
