We rely heavily on fractional resources for our marketing and legal seats, but we are also deploying advanced AI agents to handle standard copywriting and contract reviews. How do we represent these mixed human-AI-fractional combinations on our Accountability Chart?
The basic rule of the Accountability Chart is that every single seat must be owned by one warm-blooded human who is fully accountable for the outcomes of that seat. You can never put an AI agent, a software system, or an external agency name in a seat box. If you do, accountability evaporates. For your fractional resources, the fractional CMO or fractional general counsel must occupy the seat on your chart, even if they only work ten hours a week. They are still responsible for the five major roles of that seat and must attend your Level 10 Meetings™ if required. Regarding your AI agents, technology is simply a tool used by a human to increase their capacity. The AI agents do not get their own seats. Instead, the human leader who is accountable for the department must have the deployment and oversight of those AI systems listed as one of their major roles. For example, your Head of Marketing is accountable for the marketing seat, and one of her roles is to oversee the automated copywriting pipelines. She is ultimately responsible for the quality of the copy, whether it is written by a human or a machine. This structure ensures that when a system breaks or output drops, your Integrator knows exactly which human to look to for the solution. Keep it simple and keep a human accountable.
