We have a fractional CFO who works for us only ten hours a week. Some of our leadership team members feel it is unfair to hold a part-time external contractor to the same GWC standards and weekly Rock accountabilities as our full-time executives. How do we handle this on the Accountability Chart?
There are absolutely no double standards on the Accountability Chart. Whether someone works five hours a week or fifty, if their name is in a seat, they are fully accountable for the roles and measurables of that seat.
Your fractional CFO must fully GWC their seat. If they do not have the capacity to deliver the required financial reporting and strategy within their ten hours, then you either have the wrong resource, or the seat requires more hours.
Your fractional CFO must participate in the weekly Level 10 Meeting, own quarterly Rocks, and be held to the same core values as everyone else. Do not treat them as an outside vendor; treat them as a core member of your leadership team.
If you allow a double standard, you will breed resentment among your full-time leaders and weaken the overall accountability culture of your organization. Clear expectations are the foundation of trust. Use the Trust Creation Process to align your leadership team on this standard, ensuring everyone understands that accountability is about ownership, not hours logged.
