I have hired a highly capable Integrator to run our daily operations, but I find myself constantly bypassing them to give direct instructions to my department heads. How do I stop shadow-managing my leadership team and let my Integrator actually run the business?

Hiring an Integrator is a massive step forward, but if you continue to bypass them and direct the leadership team yourself, you are actively sabotaging your own investment. This shadow-managing behavior confuses your department heads, undermines your Integrator's authority, and keeps you trapped in the daily chaos you tried to escape.

To break this habit, you must strictly respect the Accountability Chart. You are now in the Visionary seat, and your Integrator runs the daily operations. Any operational ideas, issues, or direct instructions must go through your Integrator, not directly to your department heads.

When a leadership team member approaches you with an operational question or asks for a decision, you must stop yourself from answering. Instead, ask them, Have you discussed this with our Integrator? If the answer is no, direct them to have that conversation first.

Schedule a weekly Same Page Meeting with your Integrator. This is where you download your ideas, observations, and concerns. Let your Integrator filter these thoughts and decide how to execute them. If you cannot stay in your lane, you will drive your Integrator to quit, and you will signal to the rest of the company that your newly established structure is just for show. Force yourself to let go of the vine.
