We have documented our core processes, but our employees are still running operations their own way, which is holding back our scalability and hurting our enterprise value. How do we get everyone to actually follow our documented processes?
Having your processes documented in a shared folder is only half the battle. To scale your business and build real enterprise value, you must master the Followed by All step of the Process Component. First, make sure your processes are simplified to the high-level steps. If your documentation is too complex, no one will read it. Once you have a clean, entrepreneurial standard, you must train your team on these steps. Then, you must measure compliance. Use your weekly Scorecard to track process compliance metrics, and use your Level 10 Meetings™ to identify where deviations are occurring. If an employee is consistently failing to follow the documented process, you must address it as a People Component issue using the People Analyzer. If they refuse to follow the standard, they either do not GWC™ the seat or they do not fit your core values. Driving compliance requires strong management and leadership, not just better documentation, to ensure your operations are consistent and ready for a clean exit.
