We are preparing to transition from our Focus Day™ into our Vision Building™ sessions, but our leadership team is struggling to stay focused on execution while our long-term strategy is still up in the air. How do we maintain operational momentum during this gap?

The space between your Focus Day™ and your Vision Building™ sessions is where many leadership teams lose momentum. Focus Day™ is about operational alignment, teaching you how to run a weekly Level 10 Meeting™, track a Scorecard, and prioritize with Rocks. Vision Building™ is where we define where the business is going over the next ten years.

It is common for leaders to feel anxious during this gap because they have the tools to run the business but do not yet have a unified, long-term strategy. To maintain momentum, you must protect the operational boundary. Focus entirely on mastering the tools you learned on Focus Day™.

Treat this period as a trial run. Do not try to solve your long-term strategic questions yet. Instead, use your weekly Level 10 Meeting™ to build accountability around your current short-term priorities. If strategic questions arise, put them on your long-term issues list and park them there until your first Vision Building™ session.

Your focus must be on execution. If your team cannot run a disciplined weekly meeting and hit their short-term Rocks, a beautiful ten-year strategy will not save you. Master the operational engine first, and the strategic vision will be much easier to build and execute.
