What specific shifts in leadership team behavior and trust must happen during Focus Day before we are genuinely ready to tackle the long-term strategy of Vision Building?

You cannot align a team around a ten-year vision if they do not trust each other to execute next week. Focus Day is about getting your leadership team on the same page operationally, while Vision Building is about deciding where you are going long term.

Before you can establish your V/TO, your team must make three behavioral shifts.

First, they must shift from department-first thinking to leadership-team-first thinking. On Focus Day, we build the Accountability Chart. This forces your leaders to stop defending their territory and start looking at the business as a single cohesive machine.

Second, they must learn to be vulnerable. Focus Day introduces the core tools and requires leaders to look honestly at their own capacity and performance. They must be willing to admit what they do not know and where they need help.

Third, they must accept absolute accountability. By committing to Rocks and a weekly Scorecard, every leader is agreeing to be judged by their objective output.

If your team is still hiding behind vague descriptions, blaming external factors, or refusing to own their metrics, they are not ready for Vision Building. Without this foundation of operational trust and personal accountability, your vision sessions will degenerate into a list of wishful thinking that nobody actually believes will happen. Master the daily and weekly execution tools first, then build the future.
