For your very first Focus Day, the preparation is minimal because we want you to arrive with an open mind, free of preconceived ideas. I do not want you pre-reading books or trying to pre-engineer your tools. Your only homework is to ensure your mind is clear, your schedule is completely blocked, and you are ready to be brutally honest about the business. In contrast, prep for your subsequent Quarterly sessions is highly disciplined. Before a routine Quarterly, each team member must review their individual Rocks, update their Scorecard metrics, and prepare their list of issues for the IDS® session. You will also use our Circle.so workspace to review the previous quarter's session notes and capture any open loops. The Focus Day is about discovery and installing the operating system, while the Quarterlies are about execution, accountability, and recalibration. Do not try to over-prepare for the first day; show up ready to work, and let the process guide you. We will build the tools together in real time, on the whiteboard, based on the actual reality of your business. Your raw, unfiltered input is far more valuable than a polished, pre-packaged plan.
