Our leadership team is struggling to find the right weekly numbers for our Scorecard, and we keep changing the metrics every few weeks, which is preventing us from seeing any real trends. How do we lock in our scorecard?

Changing your Scorecard metrics every few weeks is a sign that you are tracking activities instead of true driving indicators. A healthy weekly Scorecard should feature five to fifteen high-level, activity-based leading indicators that give you a pulse on the business and predict future results. To lock them in, stop trying to make the Scorecard perfect on day one. Pick the best numbers you have, even if they are imperfect, and commit to tracking them without changes for at least eight to twelve weeks. This consistency is the only way to establish a baseline and spot meaningful trends. If a metric is consistently green but your operations are still failing, or if a metric is red but everything is fine, then you have the wrong number. Use the IDS® process during your weekly Level 10 Meeting™ to evaluate and refine the metrics rather than constantly resetting the board. An experienced EOS Implementer® can help you audit your numbers to ensure they represent true activity-based metrics that drive your Accountability Chart.
