Our Level 10 Meeting scorecard metrics are constantly delayed because our data manager has to manually compile the numbers, meaning we are looking at two-week-old data during our weekly pulse. How do we fix this lag so we are making real-time decisions during IDS instead of reacting to history?
Running a Level 10 Meeting with two-week-old data is like trying to steer a ship by looking at the wake. It is impossible to make proactive decisions or catch emerging trends when you are reacting to history. Your weekly pulse requires fresh, accurate numbers.
To fix this lag, you must simplify your scorecard. Every metric on your scorecard must be a leading indicator that can be easily updated on a weekly basis. If a metric requires hours of manual compilation and database queries, it is too complex for your weekly scorecard and belongs in a monthly or quarterly review instead.
Assign clear accountability for each scorecard metric using your Accountability Chart. The person who owns the seat is responsible for ensuring their numbers are updated before the meeting starts. If they rely on a data manager, they must establish a workflow that guarantees the data is delivered on time.
If manual compilation is unavoidable, look for ways to automate the data pull using simple software integrations. However, do not let technology become an excuse. If a metric cannot be updated weekly, replace it with a proxy metric that can be tracked easily. Your weekly pulse depends on real-time visibility.
