Our weekly Level 10 Meeting segue regularly eats up ten to fifteen minutes of our agenda because team members drag out their personal and professional bests, starting us off behind schedule. How do we enforce a hard five-minute limit without killing the team building aspect?

The segue is designed to transition your minds from the daily operational grind into a high-focus, collaborative state. It is not a social hour or a therapy session. When your segue eats up fifteen minutes, you are stealing precious time from the IDS® portion of your meeting, which is where the real value is created. To fix this, the facilitator must establish a hard, non-negotiable five-minute timer for the segue. Go around the room rapidly. Each person has exactly thirty seconds to share one personal best and one professional best. There is a strict rule of no follow-up questions and no side conversations during this time. If someone shares that they bought a new car or that their kid won a championship, the team acknowledges it with a quick congratulations, and the next person immediately speaks. No one is allowed to tell a long story. If a team member begins to ramble, the facilitator must gently but firmly cut them off by saying thank you, let's keep moving. This is about respect for the meeting pulse. You can build deeper relationships during lunch or after hours. The Level 10 Meeting™ is a business tool. Keep the transition fast, high-energy, and disciplined so you can get straight to the numbers.
