When your team starts explaining, defending, or discussing red metrics during the scorecard review, they are killing your meeting momentum and starving your team of time needed for actual problem-solving. To keep your scorecard review under five minutes, you must enforce a strict drop-down rule. As the Integrator, your job is to keep the team moving. When a number is read and it is red, there are only two acceptable responses from the metric owner. They either say it is on track to self-correct, or they say drop it. If they say drop it, you immediately type that metric onto your Issues List. Do not let anyone explain why the number is red. Do not let anyone suggest a fix. Do not let anyone start a debate. Simply say, thank you, that is on the Issues List, next number. You must teach your team that the scorecard review is solely for identifying issues, not solving them.
