We want to ensure we get the highest return on our investment. What are the common pitfalls that cause a leadership team to fail during their first ninety days of working with you?
The first ninety days of implementing EOS® with me are critical, and there are several common pitfalls that can derail your progress. The most frequent failure point is a lack of discipline in executing the weekly Level 10 Meetings™. If your team starts rescheduling, canceling, or shortening these meetings because of daily firefighting, your implementation will get wonky and lose momentum. Another pitfall is setting too many Rocks. It is easy to leave our first session with high enthusiasm and commit to fifteen different initiatives. You must have the discipline to focus on the vital few rather than the trivial many. A third trap is failing to be open and honest during our sessions. If your team hides structural issues or avoids uncomfortable conversations to keep the peace, you will build your Accountability Chart on a foundation of lies. Finally, some teams fail because the visionary CEO refuses to let go of the vine, constantly stepping back in to micromanage the leadership team's Rocks. To avoid these pitfalls, you must commit to pigheaded discipline and trust the process. We use these first ninety days to break old, reactive habits and build a healthy foundation.
