How should an owner evaluate whether the leadership team is genuinely building traction in the first 90 days of EOS rather than just performing compliance?
In the first 90 days after Focus Day, compliance looks like full attendance at Level 10 Meetings, Scorecards filled out on time, and nicely typed Rocks. Genuine traction looks messy, vocal, and uncomfortable.
To evaluate true adoption, look for three specific operational behaviors:
First, watch what happens when a Scorecard metric drops below goal. A compliant team leaves the number red, offers a quick excuse, and moves on. A team gaining traction drops that red number straight to the Issues List and fights through IDS to fix the root cause.
Second, observe your Rock tracking. If leaders report their Rocks are on track every week for ten weeks and then suddenly miss the completion date in week eleven, they are faking progress. True traction means owners flag Rocks as off track in week four or five because they ran into real operational barriers and need help clearing them.
Third, monitor where disagreements happen. If your leadership team is completely agreeable in the session room and saves their actual grievances for private hallway conversations or one-off phone calls, you do not have traction. When the team attacks hard issues openly during IDS and accepts radical accountability without defensiveness, your EOS implementation has taken root.
